Once upon a time, I was an archaeologist...
(I was also an opera singer for a time, but that's another story for another day!).I spent a lot of my life in the dirt. During my time studying the ancient civilizations of Egypt, Italy and Britain, I did quite a bit of exploring around the streets of Rome and the nearby Etruscan necropolis at Cerveteri. My post-graduate years were spent obsessing over the history people leave behind when a civilization falls. I've channelled this into Prince of Soot and Shadow.I currently reside in the Pacific Northwest with my daughter and our grumpy rescue cat. My spare time is largely spent reading dark romance and romantasy, hanging off the side of large rocks, and tending to my ever-growing plant collection.While I've written plenty academically, Prince of Soot and Shadow is my debut fiction novel.
